The Museum of Modern Art and Architecture designed by Rafael Moneo is located on the island of Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm. In 1956, an old naval pavilion of the Swedish Navy was chosen to be used as the temporary headquarters of the museum, which grew, having an increasing problem with the storage and work of its Architectural Archives.

In 1990, a competition was opened to build a new museum headquarters in which architects from all over the world participated. In 1991, Rafael Moneo was announced as the winner with his project called TELEMACO. But it was not until 1994 when work began.

Throughout the complex, special attention has been paid to its relationship with the environment. The geometric design of the floor plan allows freedom in the organization of spaces and, consequently, flexibility in function. The neutrality of the geometry of the rooms is reinforced by the overhead lighting achieved through open skylights in the truncated pyramid ceiling: it is a solution that guarantees an ideal relationship between light diffusion and height of the environments.
